Fireblock FOREST is a powerful, non-toxic, and biodegradable fire retardant designed for tackling large-scale fires, including intense wildfires and commercial fires. Supplied in convenient 10kg/22lbs bags, it transforms into a cooling, fire-suppressant gel when mixed with water, creating a barrier that protects surfaces from extreme heat and keeps flames under control.

Developed initially for MONDI Timbers in South Africa, Fireblock FOREST was designed to address the unique challenge of wildfires that rapidly spread through timber and vegetation. Its formulation allows it to adhere effectively to trees and undergrowth, smothering flames and preventing reignition. Fireblock FOREST has since been used successfully in major incidents, including the Richards Bay chip fire and Springs paper mill fire.
Mixing Instructions
Combine 10 kg/22lbs of Fireblock FOREST powder with 3300 liters / 870 gal of water. Sprinkle the powder slowly into the water while stirring—do not dump it all at once to avoid clumping.
Application Methods
- Direct Fire Suppression: Apply gel directly to active fires to quickly cool and control the flames.
- Preventive Fireproofing: Spray unburned areas (e.g., grass or shrubs) with the gel to create a protective barrier against advancing fires.
Storage and Maintenance
- Mixed gel can be stored for up to three years, but should be run through a pump once a month to maintain consistency.
- Powder should be stored in its sealed container in a dry place.
Easy Cleanup
Fireblock FOREST is fully removable with water, leaving no permanent residue.
